Description

Trade Counter POS is a collection of capabilities for Dynamics 365 Commerce Point of Sale. Businesses can adopt the capabilities individually to support their trade counter operations rather than enable a single, all-or-nothing experience.

Counter associates can find customers, organizations, and products quickly. They can review customer history, credit terms, and contract pricing, and use product attributes to identify items that meet the customer's requirements.

Associates can build and manage large carts efficiently. Bulk add lets them enter multiple items and quantities, while quick add with partial search helps them add products without leaving the transaction. They can search transaction lines to locate items, select multiple lines to apply supported actions together, and filter lines with errors to focus on items that need attention. Keyboard shortcuts and an always-visible action panel help associates complete common tasks and update frequently used transaction fields with fewer navigation steps.

Associates can create orders for B2B organization accounts, capture the named buyer for auditing and accountability, and record order notes to communicate customer requirements. They can view margins and override prices within allowed discount authority and margin limits.

Associates can check inventory across the counter, attached warehouse, other branches, and central distribution center. They can use available-to-promise information to communicate fulfillment dates and create transfers to support fulfillment. Orders can be released from POS to the Warehouse Management app in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, including priority release for rush orders. Warehouse workers use directed picking, scanning, and will-call staging to prepare items for pickup.

At the counter, associates can complete will-call pickup and partial fulfillment, charge purchases to the customer's account with a purchase order reference, and support B2B invoicing and credit management. They can also print A4 invoices from POS and use configurable A4 receipt layouts for business documents.

A typical workflow starts when an associate selects the business account and buyer, builds the order, and reviews pricing and availability. The associate then releases items for warehouse fulfillment. At pickup, the associate confirms the items being collected and completes the account purchase, while remaining items continue through fulfillment.

A Commerce administrator enables or disables the individual capabilities and performs the configuration required for the selected capabilities. Warehouse fulfillment uses the connected Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management warehouse processes.
