Summary

Microsoft 365 Copilot Notebooks will have a redesigned Overview page with AI-generated summaries, key insights, suggested actions, and improved layout. Rolling out from April to May 2026, it will be enabled by default without admin changes, respecting existing permissions. No user action is required.

Introduction

We’re introducing a redesigned Overview page experience in Microsoft 365 Copilot Notebooks. The updated Overview page will provide an AI-generated summary of notebook content and will surface key insights and suggested actions, making it easier for users to understand, navigate, and take action on information in their notebooks without manually reviewing all content.

When this will happen

  • Frontier: We will begin rolling out in early April 2026 and expect to complete by late April 2026.
  • General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCCH and DoD): We will begin rolling out in late April 2026 and expect to complete by late May 2026.

Microsoft 365 tenants with users who have access to Copilot Notebooks

What will happen

  • Users will see an updated Overview page when opening or creating supported notebooks: 

    user settings

  • The updated Overview page will include:
    • An AI-generated summary of notebook content.
    • Key insights and suggested actions based on notebook content.
    • Clearer organization of high-level themes.
    • A simplified layout for improved readability.
    • One-click extracts created directly from the Overview page.
  • The feature will be enabled by default for eligible users.
  • No admin configuration, policy changes, or controls will be introduced.
  • Existing permissions and data access rules will be respected.

You may choose to:

  • Inform users about the updated Copilot Notebooks Overview page experience.
  • Update internal documentation or training materials, if applicable.
