Action required: Classic Microsoft Teams end of availability starts July 1, 2025

Starting July 1, 2025, classic Microsoft Teams on Mac and Windows desktops will be unavailable to use as mentioned in End of availability for classic Teams client - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn. To avoid any business continuity issues, you must upgrade to new Teams or use Teams on the web at https://teams.microsoft.com.

How this will affect your organization:

Starting July 1, 2025, classic Teams users will be blocked from using classic Teams. Users will not be able to dismiss the blocking message or use the classic Teams desktop app.

What you need to do to prepare:

• Use this script to find Windows devices that need to be upgraded to new Teams. While the main purpose of the script is to identify issues before installation of new Teams, it can also be used to detect devices running unsupported OS for new Teams Installation.
• Upgrade users as soon as possible to the new Teams app. Learn more about switching to new Teams. Prerequisites for new Teams installation: Windows and Mac.
