Summary

Microsoft Teams is updating the in-app feedback experience and policy for Desktop and Web versions. A new Feedback option will be added to the Settings menu, and Teams will switch to Microsoft 365 feedback policies. Rollout begins late August 2024, with completion expected by late September 2024. Admins should review and update feedback policies accordingly.

Details

Updated August 21, 2024: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

Coming soon: We will be rolling out updates to the in-app feedback (Give Feedback/Suggest a Feature) in Microsoft Teams for Desktop and Teams for the web to add a new Feedback option on the Settings and more menu. As a part of this rollout, Teams for Desktop and Teams for the web will stop using Microsoft Teams feedback policies and switch to Cloud Policy service for Microsoft 365.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 394269.

When this will happen:

Targeted Release (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out late August 2024 (previously early August) and expect to complete by mid-September 2024 (previously mid-Augst).

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out late August 2024 (previously mid-August and expect to complete by late September 2024 (previously late August).

How this will affect your organization:

After the rollout:

  • Tenant impact: Teams for Desktop and Teams for the web will get the new Feedback menu in Settings and more, a refreshed Feedback form, and will start using Microsoft 365 feedback policies to align with other Microsoft 365 apps. This will be a first step towards unifying Teams feedback experiences and policies with the Microsoft 365.
  • Admin impact: Tenant admins will temporarily need to keep managing both Teams feedback policies and Microsoft 365 feedback policies for feedback collection and surveys from Microsoft Teams clients.
  • User impact: Users will get a familiar Feedback menu and feedback forms consistent with other Microsoft 365 applications. Learn more: Give feedback in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support (This article is not yet updated. We will update this post before rollout with revised documentation.)

What you need to do to prepare:

For organizations with Teams for Desktop and Teams for the web, we recommend tenant admins:

  1. Review current Teams feedback policies (Manage feedback policies in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn); and then
  2. Make sure Microsoft 365 feedback policies (Manage Microsoft feedback for your organization - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn and Overview of Cloud Policy service for Microsoft 365 - Deploy Office | Microsoft Learn) are updated to reflect your organization's needs for in-app feedback (Report a problem/Suggest a feature).
  3. Understand that Teams for Desktop and Teams for the web will continue to use existing Teams feedback policies for Surveys.

Other versions of Teams

  • Classic Teams will keep using existing Teams feedback policies for in-app feedback (Send feedback/Suggest a feature) and Surveys until the classic Teams is retired: End of availability for classic Teams client - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn.
  • Teams Mobile will keep using existing Teams feedback policies for in-app feedback (Send feedback/Suggest a feature) and Surveys.

This rollout will happen automatically by the specified date with no admin action required before the rollout, but please review recommended actions above for tenant admins. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate.
